Mr. Sainesbury

Mr. Sainesbury is looking quite proper and dignified in his bowler hat, bow tie and pipe, it's easy to see why the nickname for the Boston Terrier is the "American Gentleman". Of course whoever came up with that nickname obviously never met Mr. Wiggles, the alter-ego of Mr. Sainesbury. In fact, if Sainesbury had gone to medical school, I'd venture to say that these two were the Jekyll and Hyde of Dogdom. In case you've forgotten Mr. Wiggles, here's a recent pic:

Looks like Captain Pankirk has come to rescue Spock from yet another fix he's gotten himself into!

This is a painting of Captain Pankirk (played by Pancakes) in one of my favorite Star Trek, the Animated Series' stories, "The Infinite Vulcan" (adapted by Alan Dean Foster from a script by Walter Koenig). In case your memory is a little rusty, on a routine mission to Phylos, Spock is mysteriously kidnapped - he faces a dubious future! Now I know you're probably saying, "Wait a second platypus, surely you know there weren't any tribbles in that story!" Well, thats just me taking a little artistic license - tribbles are fun to paint!

This is the first in my "Cat Trek" series - key scenes from memorable episodes portrayed by cats!

I just listed three ACEO's (trading card sized original oil paintings, also known as ATC's or Artists Trading Cards) on Ebay for the March "Asian Inspired" contest. I have a lot more ACEO's that I've done and will post soon, and tons more in the works.

Last & First - Won Ton and Lunchbox!

My last painting for 2008 (completed on New Years Eve) was for the EBSQ "Better Late than Never" show, it's a portrait of Tracey Greene's little one-eyed shih tzu, "Won Ton". I'm happy to say that Won Ton won the "Member's Choice" award! That was a nice little ending to an otherwise underwhelming year.

I've been so busy with other stuff this month that I only just finished my first painting for 2009, it's for the January Nibblefest contest (which just happened to start tonight). Our theme this month is "Winter Wonderland."

This is the long-awaited second installment of my “Lunchbox Gets Lost” series. Lunchbox went out for a stroll in the Arctic Circle one day, and you know the rest – LOST AGAIN! Now I know you’re probably thinking, “Oh evknowles, surely you know there aren’t pine trees or cute baby deer at the North Pole!” Well that just shows you how lost poor Lunchbox really is! Lunchbox doesn't mind being lost, cold, or even the imminent danger from that snowman lurking by the trees, because at the end of the day when you’ve got your lunchpail and your diaper, what more do you really need?

December Nibblefest - Chickens!

I just finished and listed my December Nibblefest painting last night at 2:30 AM, thanks very much to my husband Chris for some excellent last minute suggestions! It's not a great time of year to be listing new artwork, but last January I had made a commitment to enter every Nibblefest contest, and I made it!

"This is not a Peep"

Well, the title pretty much says it all – this is Peepy and, as the painting says, Peepy is not a peep (despite indications to the contrary) so you probably won’t be finding him in your Easter Basket anytime soon. In case you’re wondering, that’s not a pipe either.

This painting is an homage to Rene Magritte, one of my favorite artists!
