The People's Art Contest! February theme - Eggs!

Attention artists!  You might be interested in this art contest my friend Christine has started.  Here's a copy/paste of the brief description:

About This Contest

The People's Art Contest (PAC) is a completely democratic art contest. The monthly theme is chosen by the people, the prize amount and number of places paid depend on the number of people who enter, and the people are the judges

It's only $6 to enter, and you can enter any 2D work (painting or drawing, new or old, sold or available).  The participating artists are the people who vote.

The People's Art Contest

For this month I'm entering a painting I did in 2009, I probably posted it here back then:

29 Faces: Days 18 & 19 - Squawky and Violet

I'm still catching up, that'll teach me to slack off!  I thought these two go together so well that I had to post them together, like a set:

Squawky

Face 18

~ 1.25 x 2.5" Acrylic on YUPO

I felt I should include at least one human face in this challenge, so of course I drew Violet, upon whom all of my human girl characters are based.  Squawky on the other hand is just Squawky.

29 Faces - Days 10 & 11: Friends

This one has two faces so I'm caught up now.  Sorry I don't have much to say about these two, but I think they can speak for themselves!

29 Faces - Day 9: Bloo

For Day 9 I have this little ACEO of Bloo.   I can't say enough good things about Bloo, she's just a great little elephant:

29 Faces - Day 7: Eyeballs McGillicuddy

I wasn't feeling too well last night so I'm a day behind with my 29 faces, I'll try to catch up this week.

Today's face belongs to Eyeballs McGillicuddy:

29 Faces - Face 4, Jellybean

Here's today's Face, a fuzzy little kitty who I just realized might be our next cat (who will most likely be named Jellybean).

I'm pretty happy with how Jellybean turned out, although the graphite can be messy even after being sprayed with fixative a couple of times.

How's that for a catchy post title?   It's almost as clever as the name of this drawing!

29 Faces Redux - Faces 1 and 2!

I must be a glutton for punishment, I signed up to do 29 Faces again!  Actually it was a lot of fun back in February but also a lot of work and I hope I can keep up with it.

Here are yesterday and today's faces, both are ACEO's:

Crazy Hat Day featuring the (unrelated) Johnsons

This month's Nibblefest theme is Horses, so here's my entry:

Crazy Hat Day

Yay, it’s Crazy Hat Day!  Horsey Johnson and Soft & Fuzzy Johnson (no relation) both love C.H.D., it’s their favorite holiday.  If you ask me, their hats really aren’t all that crazy, but who am I to judge?  I’m just the photographer.

This was painted with Genesis heat-set oils, I've talked about them numerous times here already so I won't bore you with that story again.

29 Faces Challenge - Day 29!

I can't believe I managed to keep this up, what a fun challenge this was!  Thanks so much Ayala for organizing it!

So for the last day I did two, I was just going to put in this kitty, but Soft and Fuzzy Johnson wanted in on the action too.  He was very sad to see the end of the challenge, as you can see, tears are streaming down his fuzzy little face:

Face 29, and Face 29!

Don't cry, Soft and Fuzzy Johnson!  We'll be back!

And here's the link to the rest of the challenge!

29 Faces Challenge - Day 25

Only four more days of this challenge, I'm going to miss it!

For todays facial offering, I present:

2.5 x 3.5

Owley Johnson, again!

After seeing this on the computer I notice a few things that need to be touched up.  That's what I get for finishing this one by the light of "Hoarding, Buried Alive" on the TV!

29 Faces Challenge - Day 24, Monster Number 9

Hey!  Here I am!  Look, over here!

Monster Number 9

Monster number 9 looks suspiciously like a woman I work with, only with horns.  What's up with that?

29 Faces Challenge - Day 23

February 23 was Eggo's birthday, and while this isn't a portrait of Eggo, it is a portrait of a smallish dog, kinda like Eggo but not really.

29 Faces Challenge - Day 20 + Nibblefest!

I'm being lazy today and doubling up my 29 faces with my Nibblefest entry for this month.  Nibblefest's theme is "Moonlight":

"Reading by Moonlight"

Don’t you just hate when you’re sitting in your yard trying to read a really interesting story, and the stupid moon is reading over your shoulder?  It’s even worse when he starts making ridiculous comments and laughing at scenes that aren’t even funny.

I so hate that!

29 Faces Challenge - Day 19

I'll be honest, I don't even know what this is.

I'm not completely satisfied with this little guy, so he's still a WIP.  But I had to post something for tonight so this is it!

Sorry  I don't have much of anything to say about this one - she reminds me a little of someone I knew, but I can't pinpoint who.  That bothers me a little but I'll try to get over it.

I'm trying out the "new" posting format here, I'm not seeing the blue underline anymore (thank goodness!).

29 Faces Challenge - day 16

Here's my face for Day 16, a Bear on a Stick.

29 Faces Challenge - day 15

Another pastel!

This worried little deer is a WIP. I got caught up in doing other stuff tonight and all of a sudden it was 11:45 and I hadn't posted my face for today, so I had to go with it as is. I certainly hope I can find the time to finish up all these WIPs I've been posting.

This is another ACEO, pastel on Stonehenge.

29 Faces Challenge - day 14 Bostie Love

Won't you be my Valentine?

Please?

For Day 14 of the challenge I was a little short on time, so I figured I'd give pastel another go. I drew this Boston Terrier as an mixed combo of our two departed Bosties, Messrs Bone-f and Wiggles. I made it into a Valentine because a) it's Valentines day (still for about 44 minutes) and b) I love and miss those two little guys.
